COSCO’s 100,000 DWT Containership Sets Sail at Qinzhou Port

On July 30, the navigation ceremony for the 100,000 DWT Containership and opening ceremony of the Phase I and II Adjustment Project for Qinzhou Port East Channel Expansion was held at Qinzhou Port. The event was co-organized by COSCO SHIPPING, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Beibu Gulf Office, Guangxi Department of Transport, Qinzhou Municipal People’s Government and Beibu Gulf Port Group.

On the morning of the event, the fully loaded M.V. COSCO Taicang under COSCO SHIPPING sounded the whistle and set sail at Qinzhou Port. The berthing of M.V. COSCO Taicang, with a maximum load of 10,020 TEU, created a new record as the largest containership docking at Qinzhou Port and marked the successful commissioning of a 100,000 DWT containership at the port. This voyage is an embodiment of COSCO SHIPPING’s implementation of China’s “National Overall Plan for the New Western Land-sea Corridor”. It will help create favorable conditions for opening more international ocean-going liner routes in Beibu Gulf and speeding up the construction of an international gateway port for the new western land-sea corridor.

On the afternoon of the event, a tripartite meeting was held among COSCO SHIPPING, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Beibu Gulf Office and Beibu Gulf Port Group. The three parties conducted a full exchange of views on topics such as strengthening further cooperation and facilitating positive interactions among the three ports in Beibu Gulf. In the future, COSCO SHIPPING will continue to actively participate in the construction of the new western land-sea corridor, and continuously improve its service quality and efficiency to address the market and customer needs.
